Welcome to Aawaz

AAWAZ is an independent voluntary group (a registered charity). Our main base is in Hyndburn, but we work across the country.

The name AAWAZ means voice in Urdu and we believe that we are the “voice” of Asian women across Lancashire. We work with Asian women and families.

We provide support to Asian women and families (families as a whole unit) working towards assisting individuals with their self-development to improve their chances to integrate in the wider society. We believe that “home is the whole world” and the “very first academy for a child is the mother’s lap” if the mother is well informed then the lives of families would be improved.

We work with the principle of self-help, equipping women and families to learn to help themselves so that we can break down the culture of dependency.

Through our work we are bringing better understanding between communities helping towards integration and harmony.

This website provides some introductory details about our work, but our role is varied, for more information about our work please contact us.
