AAWAZ Training and Advice Project

Our Training and Advice Service is funded by Big Lottery and provides a valuable and much needed service to the women and families in the locality.

AAWAZ believe that language is the key to integration and community cohesion. We endeavour to work with communities to support their transition to English speaking.

We work with isolated communities (usually but not exclusively women) to support them and enable them to communicate with the wider population and to ensure that they do not become further isolated as younger generations of their family have English as their first language.

We have developed tailor made training packages and programmes for the communities that we work with. We co-ordinate language courses and 'back to work' courses, which in turn give those isolated by language barriers more effective means of entering employment and further education.

AAWAZ works in partnership with the Neighbourhood Management Team and New Beginning project. We deliver our support and services from a number of venues based in the heart of the community.

We welcome work with all communities and the most recent development has been the work being undertaken with the Polish women in the locality.
