Young AAWAZ
“Investing in the youth of today for our bright future tomorrow”
Our “Young AAWAZ” Group is an exciting development in the history of AAWAZ.
As a result of AWAAZ’s work with women and families, it came to our attention that a lot of parents within the community felt that there was nothing suitable for their daughters age 14 onwards to do outside of their education time schedule. They also felt that there was a need for a group to be set up so that their daughters were able to come together with others and make new friends and learn from each other. Parents asked AAWAZ to start up a group and with the help and interest of young people our Young AAWAZ Group was started in April 2008 by Zulekha Dala the Manager of AAWAZ.
The Group meets on a weekly basis and after some initial consultation we have agreed a programme of activities. Our Young AAWAZ Coordinator is Aisha Malik.

A celebration and achievement event August 2008
The event was organised by the young women themselves they invited their parents and families to come together and meet each other. It was an opportunity for AAWAZ to talk to the parents and families and for the young women many of whom had received their A level and O level results to share their achievements with the wider group.
The pictures below were taken at our Young AAWAZ family evening.
